Koufax Nominees
Yowza! Emphasis Added made the cut into the semi-finals for the 2004 Koufax Awards (for lefties, get it?) in the category of "Best Overall Blog by a non-Professional." Considering the company I am in over there, I am deeply honored. Readers, if you like what you see here and would like to help generate some wider recognition for your daily read and your humble host, please consider voting in the second round. Thanks for all your support over the years as we close in on the 100,000-hit mark since August, 2002.

Emphasis Added for Beginners
Emphasis Added was launched on August 29, 2002 as part of the first wave of blogs sponsored (and hosted) by the online zine Salon. From the beginning, its goal has been to provide content, commentary and community:
- Content: Original essays on topics of interest to the author, including political theory, books and literature, music, popular culture (movies, television and comics), history, travel, and the occasional personal reflection.
- Commentary: Reflections on the events of the day, taken from the media or other blogs, from a modern, rational, “classical liberal” perspective not often heard in the mainstream these days.
- Community: The most important of EA has been the dedicated circle of readers who contribute immensely to the unique atmosphere here with their comments. All perspectives are welcome here, and it’s a particular point of pride with the author that those with contrary views continue to return and feel welcome to engage in an open, respectful exchange of opinions.
