It's nice to wake up in a community where voters with common sense are in the majority. According to the most recent numbers (97% of ballots counted) I-75, the Seattle initiatve to make enforcement of laws against possession of marijuana by adults the lowest priority for police, is passing 59-41, a nearly 20 point margin. Although athe measure will have little practical impact in the face of persistently stupid federal drug laws, Seattle voters just sent a strong signal that at least some people have had it with our expensive and cruel crusade to criminalize private behavior by adults.
Also in big news, liberals finally met a tax they didn't like. The ill-conceived Espresso Tax was crushed 68-32, proving that good intentions don't make for good policy. It's amazing the morons who put this thing together got enough signatures to put it on the ballot.
